About DVD Formats
HDenvironments wants to be sure our customers know about the various video formats we offer, before making a selection.

Standard Definition DVD: DVD (commonly "Digital Versatile Disc") is an optical disc storage media format that can be used for data storage, including movies with high video and sound quality.

The following HD formats CANNOT be played on standard dvd players

Blu-ray Disc: Must be played on a Blu-Ray player or Sony Playstation3. Is a high-density optical disc format for the storage of digital media, including high-definition video. The format was developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.

1920x1080 screen resolution is recommended for true high-definition viewing.

HD-DVD: Must be played on a HD-DVD player. A high-density optical disc format designed for the storage of data and high-definition video. The HD DVD disc is designed to be the successor to the DVD format and can store roughly 3-4 times the amount of data as its predecessor. The additional capacity of HD DVD means the discs are more suited to high-definition video than are standard DVDs.

WMV-HD stereo: Can be played on PC’s, Window Media Players, Windows Vista, X-Box 360 and Windows Media Center Products. Most PC’s now have Window Media Player version 9.0 or above (required).

WMV HD (or Windows Media High Definition Video) is a digital video format created by Microsoft for its Windows operating system that enables multichannel audio and high-definition video at resolutions up to 1080p. This format allows for much clearer video, stunning colors and textures, and enhanced audio features, a perfect format for enjoying color-filled Nature Imagery.
